CHALLENGES:

The biggest challenge was the extremely tight timeframe of the project. The job required stringent Project Management to Co-ordinate suppliers and various trades on site so as not to delay the schedule of works. The Client was adamant that the workshop side of the unit had to remain unaffected as they were still working on cars, so Herras fencing, H&S procedures and a keeping a neat and tidy site were paramount.

Due to the lack of lead time before the project commenced Phoenix were only able to provide an estimated priced schedule of works. The trusting relationship that has been built between Phoenix Systems and Harwoods over the years meant that this project was invoiced using staged valuations agreed between both parties instead of normal payment terms.

OUTCOME:

The design had to reflect the Scandinavian look and feel of the Volvo brand to bring this showroom in line with other Volvo showrooms across the country.

The Client wanted the space to both look and feel modern, fresh and clean, whilst being a practical space for Sales staff to work in. The complete refurbishment project was brought in on time and in budget allowing our client the seamless opening of the new Aftersales showroom as promised.

The high specification of the fit-out and clever use of space means that the showroom will be able to facilitate the high demand the service centre deals with on a daily basis.

Our Client was thrilled with the finished result and their business has gone from strength to strength since opening this facility.

REFURBISHMENT PROJECT OVERVIEW:

A long-standing client of ours, Harwoods Group Ltd, who are a widely respected and established car dealership brand, approached us to upgrade their Volvo showroom in Croydon to act as an aftersales halo site for the main Volvo Dealership in Crawley.
The brief for the project was to carry out a complete refurbishment within their existing building to convert an area to form an aftersales showroom. The client was looking for the showroom to reflect the Scandinavian design used by Volvo for the Crawley site, with a strict design brief and using specific approved suppliers where instructed.

This project needed to be fast tracked by Harwoods Group as a priority with work needing to commence immediately. With a completion date only 12 weeks away, Phoenix Systems were appointed Principal Contractor and set to work.

THE PROJECT:

The design featured Jumbo stud partitioning to form the new showroom area complete with a staff office and welcoming open plan seating space for customers.
The office was kept very monochrome, in contrast to the seating area which was finished off with wooden tones and warm white lighting. Frameless glass doors were used for the office to give the feel of space, along with glazed screens which formed a wall between the showroom and working garage floor allowing visible access.

Power, Data and a fully integrated HVAC system were installed along with a water feed. Lighting, flooring and furniture all supplied by Volvo design approved suppliers and installed by Phoenix Systems as per the specification.

For external works, new concrete foundations were inserted into the ground to support Volvo’s new external signage, topsoil recovered and plants put back causing minimal disturbance.
